I was asked to lead a Bible study one town from where I live, and I started tonight. It was awesome!
We spent some time reading Romans chapter 1, and then we had a wonderful discussion followed by prayer.
What a fantastic beginning! I'm still learning names, but I am soooooooooo glad I agreed to lead this. Wow. God showed up, and I am humbled! :P
My morning began with a surprise visit from two of my fabulous friends, Melanie and Annette. They popped into my classroom to sing a few worship songs! Wow, what a fantastic way to start the day!
My classes seemed to run much more smoothly too! I had to give a few yellow tickets for excessive talking AFTER several warnings, but nothing major happened.
This afternoon I received a phone call from a parent who had some prayer requests. Isn't that amazing?!?!?!
I spent most of this evening at Bible study. Man, it was nice to have Pastor Matt back. Yes, the substitute teacher did his best, but it wasn't the same.
I'm tired but very peaceful at the moment. And you?
Every now and then the prayer time at the women's Bible study blows me away.
Tonight was awesome!
I'm so excited about the friendships that are unifying this kind, compassionate group of women who attend M. Church.
I'm also thrilled about the visions God has given some folks at FBC!
God is moving, ya'll!!!!!! :o)
Be happy, and look for opportunities to share God's love. He'll give them to you!

Man, oh man....I needed a hug today.
I needed a hug so badly that I asked for one.
And got several. :o)
Teachers of the world....UNITE for a great big 'ol bear hug!!!!!
Wouldn't that be cool? We should all ban together at the end of every school day and simply encourage one another and hug...no complaining allowed.
Whaddya think about that?
My friend, P., was so frustrated today that, although he saw me walking down the hall with my supper in a plastic container at 4:45 p.m., he stopped me to chat for 45 minutes. He just needed to vent for a while and find a bit of empathy in a colleague. Hopefully, I helped him just a bit. If not, then at least he got a hug.
Have you hugged a friend today?
There's something powerful and soothing about human touch. I need it, and so do my students and my own children.
Don't you?
Unfortunately, because we live in such an incredibly litigious society, I don't dare hug my students anymore. It's just too dangerous, and our board has already believed heresay over an eye witness account in the case of one of my friends.
I can't afford to put myself in that kind of situation.
I wonder why students think we're out to get them. They seem to believe that their teachers, including me, can't wait to fail as many as possible. Why do they think that? Does it really seem plausible that someone would go to college, earn a degree, and go through the stress of teaching (especially teenagers whose hormones are raging constantly) solely in order to fail kids?
That's so silly.
Let's pray:
God, thanks for allowing all of us to have jobs that allow us to interact with your children. Each and every one of us, whether we're stay at home Moms or business owners, has an opportunity to brighten someone's day, and we ask that you help us to do just that!
Jesus, please touch P.'s heart. He's so frustrated, but I know that you can give him peace, even during a trying time in his life. Let him know how to effectively teach his classes. None of them are stupid, and all of them can achieve. Bless his classroom with an atmosphere that is tranquil and conducive to learning.
Give all of our students a desire to achieve more than they ever thought possible! Help all of us to remember that kids have bad days too. Lord, I pray that you are with us always. What else can I do to be pleasing in your sight? Just let me know, and I'm there! In Jesus' name, amen.
I'm really tired and weak.
I've been trying to keep up with blogging, but I think I have to pass for tonight.
One happy thought before I go: I started a 90-day personal Bible study program that should help me become a better woman of God. It's a pretty thick book, but it looks wonderful. I'll let you know how it goes. God bless!
The women's group Bible study went very well last night. There were lots of smiles, hugs, and encouraging words.

The second group meets this evening, and I can't wait!
God, thank you for helping us to minister to one another! Yes, I'm leading it, but these women are definitely ministering to me as well. Please bless them, Lord, as they read their Bibles on their own. Don't let them get frustrated just because they don't know their way around yet. Help them to open those Bibles on a regular basis until it's easy to find every scripture as we study together.
Build their confidence, Jesus! And thank you so much for letting them enjoy themselves as we build friendships and enjoy growing together. In Jesus' name, amen! :o)
Wow! I just finished eating supper and washing dishes; I didn't want to eat until after the Bible study.
We had 15 people (including myself)! Let me say it again: Wow!
I got some really good feedback this evening. I think the ladies enjoyed themselves too.
I know I did!
I made them sugar cookies, decaf coffee, and iced tea.
I need to thank my pastor for his advice too. His suggestions were definitely helpful! He's had many years of experience leading a small group Bible study, and I'm grateful that he talked to me about this yesterday. :o)
Thank you, Lord, for a wonderful evening! I had so much fun! Please be with all of these wonderful women all week long and bless them. Thank you for giving me so much peace! I was shocked at the natural timing of the scripture reading and discussion; we ended exactly one hour after we began, and that's when we started to pray. No one seemed to mind sticking around for 15 minutes, and a few of them stayed even longer just to chat.
Father, I pray that everyone else feels as blessed as I do. I enjoyed the fellowship and prayer time immensely. Help us to continue our walk together in peace and love. In Jesus' name, amen.
